Sign of Depression


Digital News says "Depression is a real mental health issue that will affect many people in their lifetime". Ken Robbins as internist and geriatric psychiatrist the University of Wisconsin-Madison says "Sadness is an emotion, whereas depression is an illness". Dealing with chronic clinical depression is difficult for everyone to understand – the individual experiencing it and the loved ones, co-workers and others in the life of that individual. How can you tell if you are depressed? It seems like a silly question, but a surprising number of us may fail to spot the signs that we might be suffering from depression, isn't it?


Digital News announced....the people warn sign of depression:
a. Weight changes
Depression may result in a total lack of interest in food, so somebody can begin to lose weight without even realizing it. But some people experience opposite reaction, to fill the emotional void, some of us turn to food and will gain weight in turn.

b. Fatigue and decreased energy
Fatigue is a real mind-body problem. Loss of motivation and low mood are partly at work, as well as a physiological depletion of energy and the two forces keep reinforcing each other.

c. Sleep problems
This symptom is particularly common form of sleep deprivation, to find yourself waking up in the middle of the night, night after night.

d. Persistent sad, anxious, or "empty" feelings
Empty feelings symptom looks like a low mood but persists even after time goes by the cause of the bad mood has cleared up or receded.

e. Anger and irritability
Anger is depression turned inward, as the expression goes.

f. Increased agitation and restlessness
Some people with depression fall on the "hyper" end of a spectrum of behaviors, where others are the opposite.

g. Aches and pains
Feeling sick to your stomach, knots in the gut, a weak immune system and constant colds and flu, whole body aches and pains, and exacerbated chronic conditions (such as arthritis) can all come with a depressive episode.

h. Difficulty concentrating, making decisions and remembering details
"Fuzzy thinking" is often apparent both to the depressed person and his or her family, friends, and colleagues.

i. Poor appetite or overeating
The people loses interest in eating or falls into a pattern of constant, emotionally triggered eating.

j. Loss of interest in activities or hobbies that were once pleasurable
This is one of the single most telling symptoms of depression.

k. Problems with work
Waking up in the morning and not feeling capable of getting out of bed can lead people to long bouts of absenteeism. Depression can severely interfere with your ability to work.

l. Lack of sex drive
A complete and total lack of interest in sex can be (but is not always) a feature of depression.

m. Feelings of hopelessness, worthlessness, or helplessness
In mild depression, the feelings are similar but less extreme. It's a hallmark sign of major depression.

Digital News says ..after all, the majority of cases of depression, even the most severe, respond to treatment, according to the National Institute of Mental Health.
